Ramer Photography's First Logo

As some of you know I dabble in photography from time to time. Many people have suggested that I should pursue this hobby as a profession. I have thought on such things. And each time I think on those things, I decide it is not for me. I still feel that way. However from time to time I do take pictures for people that could be considered "professional."

Since my picture taking for people has increased recently I have decided to create a logo and eventually some business cards. I consider myself to be creative, however I don't have some of skills (or software) it takes to take my creative thoughts from my brain to pixels. So, when I was in Orlando recently, I tossed an idea out to a guy who can make my creative thoughts become realities.

This man's name is Tim DeMoor. I told Tim I wanted an "R" to be my main logo, but I didn't just want a plain old "R." Tim went to work. And after a few months and an email or two, he came up with this -- a shutter turned into an "R."

 

I am VERY happy with the result. When Tim first sent me the design he came up with, I was giddy (yes, I said giddy) and couldn't wait to see the finished product. You can see the original drawing and read more about Tim's process for developing the logo here.

A Little More Fair

I went back to the fair this evening with the parents and this time I brought my camera. I am not the greatest night shooter, but I took a stab at a few tonight. Here are some for your viewing pleasure.

Picturing FSU

My neighbor, Beth, asked me to teach her photography. I was humbled and jumped at the chance to share what little knowledge I have on the subject. We went to FSU and walked around talking shop and snapping pictures.

As a photographer, it is rare for me to step from behind the camera and do a little modeling. However, I did just that today. It was kind of fun and for those who know me, you know I couldn't be serious the whole time -- as you will see in some of the shots.

On the heels of this post, I have been taking more and more pictures with my phone. I upload these pictures to Facebook, but I wanted to create a photo album on here as well (iPhone). I will try and update this album as much as possible so keep checking back from time to time.

Fair Picks

Here are the five pictures I chose for this years North Florida Fair. I originally was going to enter six, but one of the frames busted the night before (glass broke) and I didn't have time to get another one.

Funny thing is, as I was carrying the remaining five pictures to the fair building it was raining. This rain caused me to walk faster and subconsciously I was grasping the frames to my chest a whee bit tight. About ten steps from the entrance I heard a pop. Glass number two was now busted. I asked the people there if I could still submit that one and they told me to just take the glass out. Ah! Great idea. Should have thought about that there possibility with the one from the night before. Lesson learned.

Without further rambling, here are my selections. If you are going to the fair, make sure to stop by and see the pictures in the Fine Arts and Crafts building. My good friend, Russ and I will be at the fair on opening night tomorrow judging other displays and such from 5:30 p.m. until we are done and I will be walking around that area. I will be in a really tight orange shirt (2XL) carrying around a clip board trying to look important.

Need A Little Assistance Here! -- Picking Pics

I need your help. I am entering a few of my pictures into the upcoming North Florida Fair. Do to the limited number of pictures I can enter into a category I need to whittle down my selections. The original 40 or so I picked is now down to 14. A couple of those I have already decided will be entered, but I need your help with a little more whittling. 

What is it I need you, my lovely readers, to do? Simply pick your favorite one from each section. Just leave a comment for this post with your picks, or, since this will post on Facebook as well, you may leave a comment there as well. The Best Camera

Chase Jarvis is one of my favorite photographers. Well known for his commercial photography, Chase loves to share his wealth of knowledge. He has an awesome blog and many great videos on YouTube. He is my inspiration for wanting to take pictures with my phone. I have always thought if I didn't take a picture on one of my "nice" cameras, then the picture wasn't worth showing. Chase is always mentioning how the best camera you have is the one on you.
Makes sense. 
Last Saturday I created a photo album on my personal Facebook page that would hold nothing but pictures I took on with my iPhone. Then the next day, I saw the video below...

Now I can edit each picture and upload to multiple locations at once. I have only used this app for a few days, but I think it is worth the $2.99 price. You can find the pictures I have uploaded to my Facebook through this program under the Best Cam Photos album at my Facebook page.
